Would it help to wear a cotton sock type thing on your head under the helmet to absorb the sweat? You can pull it off after to take off your helmet.

i read somewhere that you should use shampoo only to wash the inside of your helmet. if you have used something else, that could be the cause of the itching.

I'd ask a dermotologist. Really! Maybe a skin condition of your scalp.

i get this from time to time too. i have narrowed it down to my hair being certain lengths. it grows a little more and stops for a while. someone else mentioned wearing a bandanna but that hasn't helped when it itches. when my hair was very long it never happened. now i keep it very short.

Ride only in states that don't require a helmet and ride without one. Your absolutely right, riding without one is great. If your state does require a helmet, I'd suggest a shorter haircut. This should reduce the amount of sweat and oils on your head and help get air to your scalp better. Open up the vents and crack that face shield a bit. You may want to try a 1/2 helmet so more of your head is exposed and still meet the mandatory helmet requirement.
