With the yellow over-rev light staring me in the face I grab an upshift. I start to feel the front-end gently climbing skyward as I motor uphill towards Laguna’s infamous corkscrew, I run the bike wide and to the outside, setting up for the famous turn. I close the throttle, snag a downshift and squeeze the tank with my legs as hard as I can while jamming on the front brake lever, then out of the corner of my eye last year’s world champ and certified Laguna expert, Nick Hayden, snakes through, rear-wheel kicked out sideways, then in a instant he’s gone… All on a bone-stock 2008 Honda CBR1000RR streetbike.

I have a 08 CBR1k …
I have a 08 CBR1k nd ridden new R1’s also. both EXCELLENT bikes. the CBR is a little more torky wile the r1 is rev happy. the CBR handles much better. again, both great bikes.

iv never ridden a 1000…i have 02 cbr600 and love it… i want to step up to a 1000 next year maybe, and i read alot of magz and i here a ton about the 04 yamaha 1000 (and newer of course) about how great it is bla bla… have you ridden the yamaha too? whats your opinion? it always seems hondas have a superior “rideability”

I ride Blades five years trde in every year.I’ve the 09 with abs. The best of the lot by far. Wouldn’t pilot anything else even a 1098 or the new 1198. Test rided the 1098s. beutiful bike but no comfort after an hour couldn’t wait to get back on my cbr.

In 08 and 09 Honda killed the CBR 1000rr shape. Just hate the bike shape and how it looks. Ugly! Hope they change the shape in 2010.

andygreek69. . . dukes are amazing bikes, but not everyone can fork out a SH$# house worth of money for bikes that perform exactly like jap bikes. yes people do speak about the taillights,the frontlights, the exhausts .etc. but thats what its all about, saying what you like and what you dont like about the things you own. . .or in some cases dont own. i enjoy my bike and it cost me possibly half of what yours cost and i get my grin when i accelerate past most cars and alot of bikes. choices. .
