I was wondering if I can wear an off-road ATV helmet to ride an on-road motorcycle, or if I need to purchase an actual motorcycle helmet to be legal?

If it is a DOT helmet, however most are not built as aerodynamic as motorcycle helmets, and might catch more wind. They are built for different purposes.

I’m looking for for a motorcycle helmet with speakers and iPod listening capabilities. I don’t know if this is possible but also a Mic to talk to a friend with a second helmet the same as yours if he’s riding near you. Thanks

What i would suggest is a scala rider multiset Q2. (http://www.cardosystems.com/scala-rider/scala-rider-q2-multiset). I have used one of these for riding and they work great! I’ll listen to my Ipod and turn on bluetooth when by myself, or ill turn on bluetooth and pair it up with one of my friends while we are riding. You can use them when you are riding farily far apart, and it was def. a good investment. As far as finding a helmet with bluetooth built in sorry i can’t help you out, but find a decent helmet (pawn shops usually have good deals..just sayin) and get a scala rider to go with it, you won’t regret it!

Hello, I want to purchase a motorcylce helmet as a gift for someone. I saw on TV these motorcycle helmet attachments that display your speed and such. It clips on the visor of your helmet. Does anyone know where I can purchase one and which ones are good? Thank You!
Well, you can put it on your existing helmet. its supposed to make you safer driving because you don’t have to look down to see your speed or RPM. This way your eyes never leave the road.

Hhhhmmm… nope - I’ve never seen that kind of helmets. But I am not sure if I’d want one since all bikes have speedos and tachometer to measure your speed and rpm.

Bikers should not need much gagets to tell them that they are having fun

Also, since this is a gift I’d be careful with the size and fit. Not all helmets measurements are the same.

I need it to be full face, and have a certain design that matches the design on my bike. I know there has to be a website that can help me. By the way, I drive a moped. its a honda metropolitan moped/vespa and the only reason I want a new helmet is because my face gets dry especially when i ride in the morning.

I wear a helmet because it is the law.

In the U.S., roughly half of all motorcyclists ride in States with mandatory helment laws; the other half are considered adults capable of making their own decisions. In the States that do not require helmets some significant percentage of riders do not wear helmets.

The claim that motorcycle helmets save lives is not supported by statistical evidence. Motorcycle helmet LAWs save lives by reducing the number of motorcyclists.

From a safety point of view - most DOT and Snell certified helmets will generally provide you with the same degree of protection.

When buying a helmet what should I be looking for? Do you generally get what you pay for or are the less expensive ones just as good? I am not going to be racing, my bike is a cruiser.

I would highly recommend that you get a full face helmet that is approved. I know it may be less comfortable but I hate to see a girl without a jaw or teeth. Other helmets may be a bit more comfortable but they do nothing to protect the face which can be a good thing to have in reasonable shape.
