I opted to borrow a full-face helmet from a friend instead since I felt it would be safer. As far as actual statistics is concerned, is the full-face with mask safer or the 1/2 helmet one?

Yup, full face is safer.
Just think, would you like to have something between your jaw and the road or not?

Assume the helmet is in Mint condition. Just want an approx. value and I can’t find any info on this helmet anywhere on the net!!! So maybe there will be a cool motorcycle enthusiast out there that might have an idea!

There’s no info on it anywhere but if it saves your head just once it’s priceless

The big motorcycle magazines (Rider, Cycle, etc.) do an article every so often about helmets. They buy a few helmets, have them tested, and report the results.

In this article there’s usually a graphic that shows the percentage of impacts in motorcycle accidents that come from which direction. Not surprising, about half come from the front. So a 3/4 helmet only protects about half of your head (the back half). A beanie protects only the top.

Beanie helmets are for people who don’t want to wear a helmet at all. A full-face helmet is MUCH better protection.

I have been riding motorcycles for decades. I only had one ’serious’ accident, where I landed face-down. Ever since then I’ve worn a full-face or flip-up helmet.

Another thing. The Dept. of Transportation (DOT) doesn’t actually require helmet manufacturers to test their helmets on a regular basis. The manufacturer puts the DOT sticker on as a ‘promise’ that the helmet matches the specification. There are non-DOT approved helmets (mostly the beanie type) that have a notice on the package that the helmet is NOT DOT approved, but a DOT sticker comes in the package. If you put the sticker on the helmet yourself, it’s not illegal. 8^O

I need a full face motorcycle helmet for an upcoming play. It will never see actual use so it doesn’t matter if its safe or not. i would like to spend less than $30

Second hand stores like Goodwill,Salvation Army,even Value Village some times have helmets cheap like $10.00

I’m looking for a motorcycle helmet that is the old german style. I ordered one but it sits too high on my head and doesn’t look right. I would like one that is more low profile. Where can I find one?

My boyfriend just bought a motorcycle & I need to get a helmet but I’m not sure what kind I should get. Do you recommend a full face helmet or just a half or 3/4 face helmet? What do most people wear? He has a 2006 Honda VTX 1300. Its not a crotch rocket.

Get what feels comfortable, but remember the more protection you have the more likely you are to survive an accident.

i just got a motorcycle and haven’t worn a helmet for one before in my life i got one the other day and it doesn’t feel like it’s going to fall off but it doesn’t feel snug or tight. did i get the wrong size, i’m not sure if i should get a smaller size so that it’s tight on my head or is it ok?
i don’t race it’s just casual riding.

Usually its best to get a helmet the squeezes your cheeks a bit with a little wiggle room (but not much).

It sounds like you could need the next size down.

Generally these are the sizings for helmets:
XS - 52-54cm
S - 55-56cm
M - 57-58cm
L - 59-60cm
XL - 61-62cm
XXL - 63-64cm

If you measure around your head (across your forehead) and get eg 59.5 then you would be a Large.

im going to be riding my motorcycle to school soon and i dont want to carry my helmet all the time so i was wondering if it would. My thought is it would because the average lockers are 12inches wide and a full face helmet is about 9 1/2 inches wide.
im going to tomorrow and i have my helmet already sooo i guess ill find out.

Its simple math…measure the locker, measure the helmet.

I bought a Viper RS-V99 motorcycle helmet about 6 months ago. I didn’t want bluetooth 1 so the shop sold it to me without it for £65. I now want to sell the helmet but I can’t find anywhere on the internet selling just the bluetooth 1 device for it. I want to find & check the price of the part to pass on the details to the buyer. I was wondering if I can wear an off-road ATV helmet to ride an on-road motorcycle, or if I need to purchase an actual motorcycle helmet to be legal?

If it is a DOT helmet, however most are not built as aerodynamic as motorcycle helmets, and might catch more wind. They are built for different purposes.
